We are right in the middle of summer. Time for family fun like walks in the park. Baseball games for the kids, swimming, cottage and camping. And of course BBQ s.

Some of these will include your dog. So many people are still fighting with their precious pets. And, the bigger the dog, the worse it is because of the sheer strength of the beastie :)

1 – When someone comes to your door, do you have to shut your dog away? Or do you have to hold him back, yell at him with the door open?

2 – When you walk, do you feel like you are “water skiing”, the dog being the boat, of course.

3 – When you are scooping, are you trying to grab the poop with one hand, while holding back your 100 pound Shepherd with the other?

4 – Can your kids walk the dog?

5 – Can you have visitors without being jumped and pawed or barked at? As a matter of fact, do your visitors knock on the door and then step back 10 feet before you open it?

There are just so many difficult situations you can get into with an untrained dog. And, the bigger the dog, the more difficult the situation.

Take the time to train your dog. It’s worth it, really! Both for your sake, and the sake of your dog. After all, a well trained dog is also a safer and more secure dog.
