German Shepherd Obedience Training

A dog that exhibits good behavior and understands its place is a dog owner’s dream but sometimes, not the reality. A number of dogs will jump on anybody who is near while others show hostility towards other animals or strangers. Those behaviors can have some useful function sometimes, the desire of most people is for their dog to be calm in all situations.

Do we absolutely have to train our dogs? I think it is and most dog owners have the same opinion. It goes without saying that a good-mannered dog is what you want, but a lot of owners feel strapped for time to do the training and the money to hire it out. Other people may not want the inconvenience of training, even if they pass the project on to a professional. The consequence, in some cases, is a dog that is unmanageable that may disturb family members or outsiders. For everyone’s safety, including your dog, training is the best course of action.

Several dog-training items on the market don’t cost a lot but can make training your dog seem effortless.

When walked, a dog who lunges ahead on its leash is behaving as though it is in charge and you are merely following. Ignoring its owner and chasing other animals is almost a given chase birds, chase other dogs or cats, and will basically pay little attention to their owner. These kinds of dogs will try to pull and drag their owner wherever they want to go on a whim.

Walking harnesses today are created so that it is uncomfortable when your dog pulls on it. The harness fits snugly against your dog’s body and neck (but without choking) and puts uncomfortable pressure against the dog’s armpits whenever it pulls against its lead. When the dog stops pulling, the pressure stops. This way, the dog will stay close to its owner. This kind of leash doesn’t require much skill and often results in a great improvement.

Rewarding the dog for appropriate behavior is done simply by giving it extra attention. But what can you do to help curtail a dog’s bad behavior?

What makes curbing bad behavior tough is the inability to communicate with your dog when it is misbehaving. Most owners say “No!” when their dog is caught in the act and it can work for some situations.

Sending a clear message to dogs is easy to do with one fantastic training device. All you need is a collection of Dog Training Discs.

When a dog misbehaves, say an emphatic “No!” as you hurl the disc to the ground. The disturbance of the discs clanking together will surprise your dog and at the same time the discs bang around on the ground, getting your dog’s undivided attention. As time goes by, the dog will associate the discs and the word “No!” Before you know it, your dog will respond to a simple “No!” the same way it would if the discs had accompanied it.

To help with training your dog try using portable dog kennels. The portable dog kennel makes training your dog that much easier. You can buy dog kennels from this site. They offer a selection of products that are on auction.

SitStay For German Shepherd Obedience

“I love SitStayFetch. I rescued two German Shepherds and I did not know anything about dog obedience. One of my dogs was quite aggressive with other dogs, and crazy about chasing cats and squirrels. What I like about your book is that you give insights into what the dog is thinking, why they behave the way they do, and tips on what to do to correct the problem. I have learned so much from your instructions, and my dogs are now following my commands and I am able to control them. Thanks for the great book.”

Many people might not know this, but the German Shepherd actually has 2 layers of fur to protect its body. And it is surprisingly easier to take care of than expected. The first layer of the covering which is close to the body is close-knit and soft. It provides the German Shepherd with protection, acting as a thermal coat to maintain warmth during colder months and protects it from the harmful rays of the sun during the warm seasons. The second coat of the German Shepherd, the outer coat is rougher and of a medium length.
